What to Expect While Healing
- When swelling has decreased it is best to switch to properly sized jewelry. Your piercer can help fit and change jewelry.
- Itching, secretion, swelling, bruising, and discomfort is normal during healing.
- Piercings can close quickly when the jewelry is removed so keep your jewelry in place.
- Although a piercing may seem fully healed, the tissue is still healing on the inside. Be gentle!
Helpful Hints
- Use caution when swimming during the healing process. POOL WATER QUALITY AND HIGH BACTERIA LEVELS CAN CAUSE INFECTION.
- Avoid sleeping on cartilage piercings as this may cause irritation and migration. You can purchase a piercing pillow to aid in this process.
- When using cosmetics or personal care products, make sure not to apply directly on piercing.
- Getting properly fitted jewelry after swelling reduces can help make the healing process faster and easier.
- take an anti-inflammatory to help discomfort and swelling.
If signs of infection occure (prolonged soreness, pain, exrensive redness, hot to the touch and/or discolored secretion) CONTACT A PHYSICIAN. DO NOT REMOVE JEWELRY UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO!
